Most of the devices connected to a router get a dynamic IP address from the DHCP server by default. But there may be a necessity for certain devices like wireless printers to have the same IP address, so that other devices can always identify them.

Static DHCP allows the user to configure an IP Address which will be always assigned to the client.

Active DHCP Leases:

To reserve an IP address, we may need to know the unused IP. This section displays the information of clients to which the IP address is leased from the primary network. The following are the fields displayed under this section.

Hostname: This field shows the hostname of the leased client.

MAC Address: This field shows the MAC address of the leased client.

IP Address: This field shows the IP address of the leased client.

Reserve: This field allows the user to reserve an IP address for the already leased client.

DHCP Reservation:

This section allows the user to reserve IP for a new client or an already leased client

Hostname: This field allows the user to configure the hostname. If left blank, hostname of the client will be leased when the client is connected.

MAC Address: This field allows the user to configure MAC address for which the IP address needs to be reserved.

IP Address: This field allows the user to configure an IP address which need to be reserved.

Delete: This field allows the user to delete the configuration.

Note: On reserving IP address for an already leased client, the reservation will be effective on client reconnection.
